Local landscape

Safety files for Cape Town contractors.

From V&A and CBD high-density sites to Atlantic Seaboard residential, Northern Suburbs light industrial around Bellville and Parow, and Helderberg new-builds, Cape Town's construction scene is varied — and so is its compliance pressure.

Cape Town's sites run from tight inner-city work with constant public exposure, through coastal residential where wind dominates the working-at-height scope, to multi-trade industrial fit-outs in the Northern Suburbs. We build the file around the conditions that actually affect your job.

We understand the local conditions a generic national vendor doesn't — like the south-easter on scaffolding and the salt air on coastal metalwork. The file is shaped around the trades, hazards and conditions on your site, not a one-size-fits-all pack.
What you get

Provincial context

The OHS Act and the Western Cape context.

Safety files are governed by national legislation — the OHS Act 85 of 1993 and the Construction Regulations 2014 — which applies identically across all nine provinces. The file you receive is valid anywhere in South Africa.

The only thing that changes by location is which provincial office of the Department of Employment and Labour would handle an inspection or a worker complaint. For Cape Town, that's the Western Cape office.

Your file stays on site. It isn't filed with the Department — but if your project is inspected, the safety file is the first document examined. That's why every document in it is tied to its clause of legislation in writing.
FAQs

Cape Town safety file questions.

Do you serve all trades across Cape Town?+
Yes. The file is digital, so we deliver to any address in and around Cape Town at the same speed and the same price — across the Atlantic Seaboard, the Northern Suburbs, the Cape Flats and out to the Helderberg and beyond. The flat rate covers any contractor in any trade.
Is the Cape Town safety file a PDF, and can I get it online?+
Yes. Your Cape Town file is built and delivered online and supplied as a print-ready PDF — you can save it, email it and print the hard copy you keep on site. Most Cape Town files are ready the same day. Prefer a printed, bound copy posted to you? Just ask when we set it up.
Does the file account for Cape Town's specific conditions?+
Where they materially affect compliance, yes. Coastal and exposed sites often need wind-specific working-at-height assessments and extra cover for salt-air corrosion and wet-weather electrical safety. Tell us about your site and we add what's relevant.
Do I need a different safety file for Cape Town than another province?+
No. Safety files are governed by national legislation — the OHS Act 85 of 1993 and the Construction Regulations 2014 — which applies identically across all nine provinces. The file you receive is valid anywhere in South Africa. Only the provincial Department of Employment and Labour office that would handle an inspection changes by location.
Will my Cape Town file stand up to an inspection?+
Every file is built to the same standard a Department of Employment and Labour inspector applies, and the Compliance Rationale Report gives the document-by-document legal trail. If a file we compiled fails an inspection because of our error, we put it right.
How do I get started?+
