Do civil contractors legally need a safety file in South Africa?+

Health and safety on construction sites is governed by the OHS Act 85 of 1993 and the Construction Regulations 2014. In practice, principal contractors and clients require a site-specific health and safety file before they allow you on site, and a Department of Employment and Labour inspector can ask to see it during a visit. For most contractors, no file means no access.

What makes a civil safety file different?+
